6. Ben and Jerry’s
Bringing ice cream lovers their favorite pints of ice cream, these two friends who were the slowest in their class have become a global phenomenon after starting their ice cream business in 1978. Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, childhood friends who grew up in Long Island, New York, came back together years after and enrolled in an ice cream-making correspondence course which as we now know changed their lives. They started out with 8 original flavors, the very first being vanilla but later on, as time went on, all the original 8 were discontinued and they came up with more innovative flavors. The famous “chocolate cookie dough “ was actually tipped off by an anonymous customer as a suggestion and now is one of the most sold ice cream flavors among the other favorites like “strawberry cheesecake” and “half-baked”.
