1. Haagen-Dazs:
The Danish-named ice cream company is actually made by two locals from the Bronx, New York, Reuben and Rose Mattus in 1961. They first came out with only three flavors and later on expanded to more. The company’s name actually comes from the two honoring the people of Denmark for being so kind to Jewish refugees during World War 2. The company sells some interesting flavors including “green tea” and “vanilla tangerine and shortbread”.
